Funding to encourage healthy and sustainable communities
Community groups make such a big difference to residents’ lives, which is why we are proud to continue supporting groups via a new-look Local Communities Fund, with £1.2 million worth of grants available.
We want to encourage healthy and sustainable communities by financially supporting community groups and charities via this two-year programme.
Eligible community groups can apply for a range of grants, whether it’s a capital grant of up to £20,000 to help improve local facilities, or a revenue grant of up to £5,000 to help towards running costs such as bills or staffing costs.
We have made a few changes to this fund to focus on those communities who need the help the most.
For example, we’ve introduced a new pot of money aimed at supporting new or recently set-up grassroot organisations. Previously these groups wouldn’t have been eligible under the old scheme, and we think it’s vital we do what we can to help get these groups established.
Another new grant has also been introduced, known as a building financial resilience grant, which is aimed at projects that address the root causes of those in financial crisis and help people build longer-term financial resilience.
To speed up the application process for capital grants, groups will now be able to apply without having to have their match-funding fully ready. Instead, they’ll just need to provide evidence if and when they are successful in their application.
To free up more funding towards projects which offer community resilience, this fund will no longer fund projects such as village or gateway signs.
We hope there’s a fund to suit all groups. And to make things even easier, when an eligible community or voluntary group successfully applies for this funding, we’ll assess behind the scenes which pot of money is best suited.
Most of these grants are open until Friday 24 July 2026, so do check our webpage for more details of how to apply. The Local Communities Fund (LCF) | Nottinghamshire County Council
Another funding scheme which is now open to applications from community groups, is a fund targeted at projects which reduces waste and promotes recycling.
This includes projects such as community gardens which reuse, reclaim or recycle materials, food waste reduction initiatives and composting schemes.
Groups can apply for up to £1,000 for the Reduce, Reuse, Recycling Fund.
Groups have until 14 September to apply. To find out more about this scheme, contact our partner Veolia by going to their webpage: Reduce, Reuse, Recycling Fund | Veolia Nottinghamshire
